DESCRIPTION:Join Jo for these 4 sessions to gain lots of skills and techniques in patchwork and quilting. \nYou will learn how to use templates for accuracy\, measurements\, cutting etc \nYou will also start to create a personal quilt learning about colour\, harmony\, co-ordinates and values. \nThis is a ‘start in the middle’ Quit design which works outwards and can therefore be as big as you’d like it to be\, once you have gained the initial skills. \nThis class is scheduled over 4 weeks (fortnightly) where our tutor will support you during the class and ensure you have the skills & tools to carry on working at home until the next session. \nThe dates for this Masterclass is: 22nd Sept\, 6th Oct\, 20th Oct\, 3rd Nov \nYou will need: \n\na variety of cotton fabrics in your colour choice (although this is very much part of the course so you may prefer to wait until the sessions start before purchasing) – we offer a 10% discount  on all fabrics purchased for your workshop. DESCRIPTION:Suitable for children aged from 11 years\, for all abilities \nChildren must be either at or due to start Senior School in Sept 23. \nWe will discuss individually what would like to be achieved\, according to the skill level. \nSome Tweens will have their own ideas about what they’d like to create and make during the session\, they may be finishing off projects or starting a new one. \nProjects may include: \nAbsolute Beginner: start off learning to use the machine\, test sewing\,  create patterns with pretty stitches to gain confidence\, make a small item such as a bag or cushion. Progress to confident beginner for the afternoon session. \nConfident beginner: make a simple skirt or top\, creative stitching – Applique and design. \nConfident Sewer: make shorts or zipped skirt\, shirred top\, messenger bag\, anything with zip insertion\, \n  \nWe can provide scrap fabrics for practise stitching and for making small items such as a draw string bag\, but if garments are made or large bags or cushions\, fabric must be purchased where we offer a 10% discount during the workshop (or brought with you)\, we can discuss this prior to the class. \nPlease provide a packed lunch \nWe will provide\, water\, squash and biscuits etc – please let us know if any allergies!

DESCRIPTION:The Petersfield Sewing Bee is doing something different this year… \nWe invite you to Herne Farm Leisure Centre\, Crundles\, Petersfield GU31 4PJ with arrival from 9.30am for a welcome cuppa and get to know your fellow participants and volunteers. \nWith inspiration from The Great British Sewing Bee there are 2 challenges and these are suitable for all levels of sewists. \nThe aim\, as always is to have fun and create WITHOUT stress! \nMorning Challenge 1  – Team Transformation Challenge \nUnlike the TV series\, you are not alone – you will be in small groups and have 2 hours to get sewing and be creative according to the theme of the challenge. All fabrics\, garments\, trims etc will be available. \nWe have run these kind of team challenges before in the shop and we know they are great fun and you will be amazed with what you can create\, even if you think you’re not very creative! The items created will be displayed in the shop after the event. \nLunch break \nAfternoon Challenge 2 – Pattern Challenge \nJust like the TV series\, after lunch\, you will be given a (very simple) pattern\, lots of fabric choices and trims are included and once you know your pattern\, you will be able to select these from our haberdashery. There will be time allocated to gather your fabric and to get yourself prepared before cutting out & sewing starts. The item made is yours to keep. \nLight refreshments will be provided. \nPlease bring a packed lunch or pop to the co op next door where there will be plenty of sandwiches etc. \n  \nAs with our usual Sewing Bee\, there will be various winners and an awards ceremony will be held around 4pm. If you already have this pattern choose ‘Class without pattern’ option. \nThe pattern is sized up to a UK 18/20 however our tutor is able to adjust this should you need it a little more generous. \nThe class includes tuition and use of our sewing machines & overlockers (or bring your own if you prefer). \nYou will need up to 2.5 metres of knit fabric (use either a sweatshirt weight or for a more lighter top use jersey) and we always have a nice selection of which a 10% workshop discount will apply. \n

DESCRIPTION:Enjoy a relaxing weekend of sewing with other like minded sew-cial creatives. \nBring any projects\, dressmaking\, quilting\, machine embroidery\, homemaking and our tutors are on hand for when you need help and advice. \nWe have a beautiful dedicated workshop space at the Solent Hotel and Spa in Whitely\, Hampshire and you can choose to stay one or two nights. \nThe price of £370 includes one night accommodation in a signature room\, all your meals\, tea\, coffee etc for the duration of your stay. There is a reduction of £50 each if you and a friend are sharing a room too! DESCRIPTION:This class is perfect for anyone wishing to take their first steps in to patchwork & quilting skills by making a fabulous log cabin block that will be made in to a cushion cover (approx 16″ – 18″)\, or you may prefer to create more blocks to make into a quilt. Using pre-cut fabric strips you will learn the following: \n\nPrecision piecing using a 1/4” foot for guidance\nUnderstanding colour\nCreate an envelope backing\n\nYou may use one of our lovely Janome workshop machines or bring your own machine if preferred (in which case\, preferably\,  you will need a 1/4” foot) \nYou will need: 10 Fabric strips (2” wide) in various colour ways – which you can choose and we will cut these for you on the day. \nThe strips can be with contrasting colours/designs – but they don’t  have to be\, the log cabin design works well with all colours and it is important that you make it your own! \nCalico for the cushion back is included or you may choose to quilt it in which case the wadding is included but you may not complete the cushion.         \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
