We also recommend bringing a laptop or iPad if you have one.\nWe will help you learn how to get to grips with your machine including: \n\nIntroduction to your Scan N Cut\nChanging settings\nConnecting to  wifi (and to Stellaire machine)\nAdd shapes\, duplicate and flip and rotate.\nLoading your mat & problem solving\nDifferent cutting blades\nUsing the drawing tool and Universal Pen Holder\nUsing various functions\nSaving shapes and designs\nPractice sessions\n\nThe class size is small so this will allow the tutor to work with your own level of confidence and experience.

DESCRIPTION:This is a perfect class for keen dressmakers wanting to extend their pattern cutting knowledge who may have also already attended our Copy That Garment class. \nIn this workshop you will learn the basics of Pattern Cutting\, using only your own measurements to create your own unique pattern for a loose fitting pair of trousers or shorts (with pockets!) and then make them up! (Please note you may not completely finish your trousers – but will leave with the knowledge to do so). \nAn understanding of how patterns work is an essential part of dressmaking skills and ultimately  helping you to create a good fit. Our wonderful tutor Clare is a qualified pattern cutter and has years of experience in designing & making clothes and also being very much a part of our tutor team\, always ready to share her huge knowledge & skills with you. \nDuring the class there will be LOTS of knowledge shared along with skills on ‘How To’ theoretically change the pattern to a more ‘fitted’ trouser version. \nAs you will be taking very specific measurements during the class you will be unable to make the pattern for someone else on the day\, however the skills you will learn will enable you to do this in your own time should you wish to. \nYou must be experienced in sewing from a clothing pattern\, this class is not suitable for beginners. \nYou will need: (all available on the day if preferred) \nFabric to make up your pattern – approx 2.5mx 1.5m wide or 3m x 1.1m wide (trousers) 1.5m (shorts) \nElastic – 1m soft \nPattern paper – included \n  \nPlease feel free to bring your own sewing box and/or machine – but we have everything available in the studio should you like to use ours. \n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:Kids - Tweens Sewing Day - 8th Aug
DESCRIPTION:Suitable for children aged from 11 years\, for all abilities \nChildren must be either at or due to start Senior School in Sept 23. \nWe will discuss individually what would like to be achieved\, according to the skill level. \nSome Tweens will have their own ideas about what they’d like to create and make during the session\, they may be finishing off projects or starting a new one. \nProjects may include: \nAbsolute Beginner: start off learning to use the machine\, test sewing\,  create patterns with pretty stitches to gain confidence\, make a small item such as a bag or cushion. Progress to confident beginner for the afternoon session. \nConfident beginner: make a simple skirt or top\, creative stitching – Applique and design. \nConfident Sewer: make shorts or zipped skirt\, shirred top\, messenger bag\, anything with zip insertion\, \n  \nWe can provide scrap fabrics for practise stitching and for making small items such as a draw string bag\, but if garments are made or large bags or cushions\, fabric must be purchased where we offer a 10% discount during the workshop (or brought with you)\, we can discuss this prior to the class. \nPlease provide a packed lunch \nWe will provide\, water\, squash and biscuits etc – please let us know if any allergies!

DESCRIPTION:The Petersfield Sewing Bee is doing something different this year… \nWe invite you to Herne Farm Leisure Centre\, Crundles\, Petersfield GU31 4PJ with arrival from 9.30am for a welcome cuppa and get to know your fellow participants and volunteers. \nWith inspiration from The Great British Sewing Bee there are 2 challenges and these are suitable for all levels of sewists. \nThe aim\, as always is to have fun and create WITHOUT stress! \nMorning Challenge 1  – Team Transformation Challenge \nUnlike the TV series\, you are not alone – you will be in small groups and have 2 hours to get sewing and be creative according to the theme of the challenge. All fabrics\, garments\, trims etc will be available. \nWe have run these kind of team challenges before in the shop and we know they are great fun and you will be amazed with what you can create\, even if you think you’re not very creative! The items created will be displayed in the shop after the event. \nLunch break \nAfternoon Challenge 2 – Pattern Challenge \nJust like the TV series\, after lunch\, you will be given a (very simple) pattern\, lots of fabric choices and trims are included and once you know your pattern\, you will be able to select these from our haberdashery. There will be time allocated to gather your fabric and to get yourself prepared before cutting out & sewing starts. The item made is yours to keep. \nLight refreshments will be provided. \nPlease bring a packed lunch or pop to the co op next door where there will be plenty of sandwiches etc. \n  \nAs with our usual Sewing Bee\, there will be various winners and an awards ceremony will be held around 4pm. There are no formal judges as such\, you will all be advised on the day how the voting will work. \nWe will showcase your creations in the shop window following the Sewing Bee event. \n  \nYou will need to bring (make sure all named/labelled/ and obviously yours!): \n\nYour sewing machine\, cable & foot pedal\nVarious scissors\nPins\nSpare machine needles\, bobbins etc\nPacket Lunch (or purchase from shop)\n\nWe will provide: \n\nOverlockers\nIrons & ironing boards\nThreads\nAll fabrics & trims for both challenges\nTables and chairs\nTea\, coffee\, biscuits\, cake\nExtension leads (but if you have one you could bring – that would be good too!)\nEmergency items such as spare sewing machines\, scissors\, pins\, needles\, bobbins\, pinking shears\,\n\n  \nLOCATION; \nHerne Farm Leisure Centre\, GU31 4PJ is situated behind the co-op on Moggs Mead. It has a small car park to the front. We will be ready with the kettle on from 9.30am on Sunday 30th July. \nPlease let us know any special requests or mobility issues. \n
