DESCRIPTION:Perfect for a confident beginner. \nLearn skills such as using a paper pattern\, importance of measuring\, cutting stretch fabric\, use of stretch stitches\, topstitching\, adding sleeves and a hood\, hemming etc. \nWe will be using New Look Pattern 6529 in this class\, which also has a lovely leggings pattern too for you to try at home or in another of our workshops. If you already have this pattern choose ‘Class without pattern’ option. \nThe pattern is sized up to a UK 18/20 however our tutor is able to adjust this should you need it a little more generous. \nThe class includes tuition and use of our sewing machines & overlockers (or bring your own if you prefer). \nYou will need up to 2.5 metres of knit fabric (use either a sweatshirt weight or for a more lighter top use jersey) and we always have a nice selection of which a 10% workshop discount will apply. \n

DESCRIPTION:Enjoy a relaxing weekend of sewing with other like minded sew-cial creatives. \nBring any projects\, dressmaking\, quilting\, machine embroidery\, homemaking and our tutors are on hand for when you need help and advice. \nWe have a beautiful dedicated workshop space at the Solent Hotel and Spa in Whitely\, Hampshire and you can choose to stay one or two nights. \nThe price of £370 includes one night accommodation in a signature room\, all your meals\, tea\, coffee etc for the duration of your stay. There is a reduction of £50 each if you and a friend are sharing a room too! DESCRIPTION:Shirring is a magical technique that shrinks a piece of fabric and transforms it into something stretchy. \nIn this class you will set up the machine\, cut the fabric to the correct size\, create a narrow topstitched hem & straps and learn all the techniques required to create you own shirred top or dress with tie straps for yourself or a child. \nIf you are planning to make a dress for a child or someone else\, please bring their chest/full bust measurement. \nThis class is not for the complete beginner\, you will need to know how to use a sewing machine and be able to sew straight lines! \nGingham fabric is perfect for this task as the lines are already there for you\, but any cotton or cotton blend fabric with suit\, if in doubt just ask!. \nYou will need between 50cm and 1.5m depending on whether you are making a child dress or adult top or dress. You may purchase fabric on the day and therefore only pay for what you need. \nYou will also need one or two spools of shirring elastic \n  \n

DESCRIPTION:This session can be used as a one-off class or joined with other Block Builder sessions to complete a wonderful Row by Row quilt. This particular quilt works well with plain fabrics in any colour co-ordination to suit you. \nPerfect for anyone wishing to extend their patchwork & quilting skills as each session will aim to create 3 blocks ranging in difficulty. These blocks are then replicated at home to complete 3 rows of the quilt\, or the individual blocks can be used in separate projects such as cushions or a sampler quilt as desired\, \nPrinted instructions are given for each session. \nYou will practice & learn the following: \n\nprecise cutting using rotary cutter & rulers\nprecise piecing\nUnderstanding colour\n\nYou may use one of our lovely Janome workshop machines or bring your own machine if preferred (in which case you will need a 1/4” foot) \nWe will let you know what fabrics you need for each session\, these can be purchased in the shop and you will receive a 10% workshop discount \n  \n
