SUMMARY:Quilt in a Day 10th October
DESCRIPTION:This Jewel Box design quilt is a perfect design to learn patchwork and quilting processes in your first step into the wonderful world of quilting. We are sure you wont stop at one! \nUsing a pre-cut 5-inch charm pack\, and co-ordinating fabric you will learn 2 basic blocks – Half Square Triangles and Checkerboard\, which make up this quilt design. \nYou will piece together the blocks\, step by step and learn the importance of precise seam allowances. \nOnce pieced together\, you will then learn about adding a border to complete the quilt top. \nYou will then ‘sandwich’ the quilt using batting and backing and use simple quilting effects with the sewing machine. \nWe will then show you how to finish off your quilt with binding. You will leave with the basic skills of quilting\, a lovely finished quilt (measuring approx 75cm x 95cm). \nYou will need a quilt pack (approx £30)\nEnjoy choosing your fabrics prior to your class and we will cut them for you\, if you can’t get in to the shop we can discuss requirements over the phone or via email\, or feel free to use your own fabrics\, but these must be cut ready for the class. \nA pre-cut charm pack (40 x 5” squares) or choose 4 co-ordinating fabrics and we will cut to 5” squares. \n24 x 5” squares – plain background \n30cm border fabric (can be chosen on the day) \n30cm binding fabric (can be chosen on the day) \n80cm backing fabric (can be chosen on the day) \nWadding included \nA quilt pack is approx an additional £30 depending on your choice of fabrics \nPlease Note – you may use one of our lovely Janome Sewing Machines or feel free to bring your own

English Paper Piecing is shaping fabric around a paper template and hand stitching the shapes together to create many projects. Its extremely therapeutic\, addictive\, a great ‘stash buster’ and a fab ‘sew anywhere’ project. \nYou will learn new and traditional techniques of EPP from our wonderful tutor Hermione\, and with help and encouragement all the way you will hand stitch your hexies together. \nYou will then stitch your design in to a needle case for you to enjoy forever! \nEverything is included. Fabric\, thread and paper templates and pre-made needle case\, so all you have to do is turn up and have fun! \n\n
