SUMMARY:Quilt in a Day - 7th August
DESCRIPTION:This 9 patch star  quilt is a perfect design to learn patchwork and quilting processes in your first step into the wonderful world of quilting. We are sure you wont stop at one! \nUsing 54 pre-cut 5-inch squares\, and a co-ordinating fabric you will learn 2 basic blocks – 9 patch and the Sawtooth Star Block\, which make up this quilt design. \nYou will piece together the blocks\, step by step and learn the importance of precise seam allowances. \nYou will then ‘sandwich’ the quilt using batting and backing and use simple quilting effects with the sewing machine. \nWe will then show you how to finish off your quilt with binding. You will leave with the basic skills of quilting\, a lovely finished quilt (measuring approx 80cm x 95cm). \nYou will need a quilt pack (approx £30)\nEnjoy choosing your fabrics prior to your class and we will cut them for you\, if you can’t get in to the shop we can discuss requirements over the phone or via email\, or feel free to use your own fabrics\, but these must be cut ready for the class. \nA pre-cut charm pack (40 x 5” squares) plus choose 2 more coordinating fabrics or choose 7 co-ordinating fabrics and we will cut to 54 x 5” squares. \n3 x 5” squares AND 24 x 3” squares  – plain for the star \n30cm binding fabric (can be chosen on the day) cut into 4 x 3” strips \n80cm backing fabric (can be chosen on the day) \nWadding included \nA quilt pack is approx an additional £30 depending on your choice of fabrics \nPlease Note – you may use one of our lovely Janome Sewing Machines or feel free to bring your own \n  \nNew Shop Location – 55 Station Road \nParking info: \nWe have a short stay parking space to the rear of our  shop\, accessed via Lyndum Close\, perfect for dropping off or picking up\, please only  park in our space which is identified as such. We share the rear space with many other businesses\, all with their own designated parking spaces – please do not park in these. \nNearest all the surrounding streets are Permit holders only – blue badge holders can park for as long as necessary. \nWe are situated : \n200m from Waitrose car park (max stay 3 hours) – 5 minute walk. \n300m from Swan Street car park (24 hrs) – 6 minute walk. \nSneaky free places to park: \n200m – North Road (off Station Road\, by Bentleys Dog Groomers) – permit holder or 1 hour FREE parking \n250m – College Street (outside the Good Intent on one way system) – 3 hours FREE Parking!! \n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:Free Machine Embroidery - Pictures in Stitch - 8th Aug
DESCRIPTION:  \n \n  \nCome along with  and join me and a group of like- minded stitchers and sew up the mysteries of free Machine Embroidery. \n  \nUsing a sumptuous array of threads in a variety of colours and thickness\, you will learn how to create your very own picture of stitches. \n  \nThrough demonstration and support\, students will be guided through all aspects of creating a design\, placing imagery\, incorporating a background and a fore ground into their design and how to finish and present their work to its full and deserved potential. \n  \nThe workshop is designed for the novice or the more confident stitcher who wishes to explore the numerous techniques and textures created by threads and stitch\, not to mention the delight of sewing and working with colour to create pictorial machine embroidery. \nAll you need is a willingness to release your Creativity and learn a new skill. \n  \nLinda Miller BA Hons\, has been a professional embroiderer since she graduated from Winchester school of art in 1988.  \nHer work is successfully exhibited throughout the UK\, Europe\, and the USA. \nShe has pieces held in public and private collections such as those of the Victoria and Albert Museum and the Arts Council Southeast. \nHer current book entitled “Stitched Pictures” is published by Crowood Books and she has appeared on Kirsty Allsop’s television program “Kirsty’s Handmade Britain.”  \n  \nLinda regularly holds workshops and gives slide talks and lectures for Adults\, Children and Community groups; she enjoys sharing her enthusiasm for textiles and her love for Machine Embroidery. \n  \nThis is an all inclusive workshop\, fabric\, thread and bondaweb are included. There is no need to bring anything unless you’d like to! \n  \nIf you’d prefer to use your own machine\, please ensure it is in good working order\, of which you can drop the dog feed teeth or has a plate that fits over the teeth. \n\nYour sewing machine manual and accessories (oil\, screwdriver\, etc.)\nA darning foot/free motion machine embroidery foot that is compatible with your machine.\nSize 80 machine needles.\nAll bobbin spools that are compatible with your sewing machine.\n\n  \n  \nNew Shop Location – 55 Station Road \nParking info: \nWe have a short stay parking space to the rear of our  shop\, accessed via Lyndum Close\, perfect for dropping off or picking up\, please only  park in our space which is identified as such.
